Launched in 2022, Everything Policy is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting sound policy making through the publishing of short-form, easy to digest content that helps educate our youth, engages the American Public, and informs policymakers. As our organization continues to grow, we’re looking for a skilled and experienced Social Media & Community Manager to join our team.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated coder to support an exciting document processing initiative centered on natural language understanding and information retrieval. This project involves developing a user-friendly large language model (LLM) application that summarizes legislative proposals and helps design an educational curriculum for use in high school classrooms across the U.S.. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about unstructured data, NLP, and making civic content more accessible through innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain tools that process and summarize legislative documents using LLMs.
  • Design and implement pipelines for data ingestion, embedding generation, and semantic search.
  • Collaborate on developing a curriculum that integrates NLP tools into classroom learning.
  • Work with a cross-functional team using GitHub for version control and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Experience with:
    • PostgreSQL or other relational databases
    • GitHub for code collaboration and version control
    • OpenAI API for working with LLMs and embeddings
    • NLP tools (e.g., scikit-learn, spaCy, or similar)
  • Familiarity with information retrieval concepts such as:
    • TF-IDF, cosine similarity
    • Evaluation metrics like precision and recall

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with document classification, semantic search, or topic modeling
  • Exposure to embedding-based search, vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate)
